Beatrix Potters Peter Rabbit
Beatrix Potters Peter Rabbit
I was so honoured and excited to receive a set of the Derwent Lightfast Coloured Pencils in advance, quite a bit before their official release date. With the pencils I decided as this was quite a momentous occasion for Derwent, I would try to create a piece of art with meaning to the company and in essence the pencils.
I decided to draw this Peter Rabbit art from the very popular Beatrix Potter children's books. Beatrix Potter spent the later part of her life living in the Lake District in Hill Top Farm, not far from Keswick, the home of Derwent. Beatrix Potter dedicated her life to preserving the beauty of the Lake District from rich property developers from London, she could see that should they get hold of this beautiful part of England, all the beauty and in particular wild life would be destroyed. The only way she was able to protect such vast areas, was to buy them up herself and when she died, she left it all to the National Trust.
