Black Power Ranger Artwork
Black Power Ranger Artwork | Power Rangers | Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
About a year or so ago, I was looking for ideas to draw something and so I asked my brother, he is 10 years younger than me and when he was a kid Power Rangers were all the rage, so he asked me to draw a Power Ranger. At the time he said to me that the yellow one was his favourite and so I drew that, not recording the process or taking many photos along the way. the drawing turned out so much better than I had expected and so I set out to draw them all for him.
This is my third Power Ranger to date, so I have drawn the Yellow Power Ranger, Pink Power Ranger and now the Black Power Ranger. I think, I have the Red, Blue and White Power Rangers left to draw and so I wanted to share this process with you guys.
Paper Used
I used a lot of different art supplies to complete this piece starting with my absolute favourite paper for marker and colored pencil art and that is the Strathmore 500 Series Bristol Plate. The reason this paper is so special for mixed media work in my opinion is that the Plate surface is really smooth, however, it is 100% cotton and it is that cotton content that allows the colored pencils to layer beautifully on top of the marker.
Alcohol Markers
I used a range of markers as finding the right grey greens was quite a challenge, so I used COPIC Markers, Art-N-Fly markers which have a wonderful range of grey green colors; I also used some Arrtx Markers, Ohuhu Markers and a few Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers. This illustration shows and proves that all alcohol markers work well together.
Colored Pencils Used
With regards to the colored pencils, as with the markers, I used a varied selection, the Derwent Lightfast offered me some gorgeous greens and super dark greens that I needed, with the Faber Castell and Prismacolor I was spoilt for choice with greys, French Greys and warm greys, some Holbein and finally some Caran d’Ache Luminance and Pablos. An All Star event really using some of the biggest pencils on the market
