Kalour Professional 72 Set of Colored Pencils With Colourless Burnisher and Blender Pencils

In this review we take a look at the Kalour Professional Colored Pencils 72 Set with Colourless Blender and Burnisher pencils. I am not sure how new this particular set is, but for me personally, I have only noticed the set very recently, hence purchasing it for review. However, another reason I really wanted to test and review the set, was the claims made on the advertising and packaging regarding the products professional and expert levels, including supposed lightfast ratings on a very budget friendly set of colored pencils.

I can totally understand why these two brands of colored pencils have been requested so much. Let’s get the very obvious similarities out of the way from the beginning. Both the Phoenixcolor and Marco Tribute Master Collection are incredibly eloquently packaged, both of the sets I have on review are packaged in a similar style to that of the Tom Bow Irojiten, another lavishly packaged pencil.

My Top 5 Artist Grade Colored Pencils

In the seven years that I have been reviewing colored pencils and other art supplies, I have come to the conclusion that there is a difference between, Artist Grade and Artist Quality colored pencils. Let me explain. In my opinion, a colored pencil that is Artist Grade has been lightfast tested only under the Blue Wool or ASTM system, and you will be surprised at how few there are in this group.

Now we get to the exciting, yet bitter sweet part of the Derwent Chromaflow, if you cast you mind back to the beginning of this review I mentioned that part of the reason Derwent decided to create the Chromaflow was due to the love of the softer cored colored pencil, such as Prismacolor.

Derwent Lightfast Paper

This was the first time that I had completed a full art piece on the Derwent Lightfast Paper and I was incredibly impressed with the over all results of the artwork and the properties of the paper. About two years ago, I was asked by Derwent to take part in one of their focus groups, I was over the moon to have been asked in the first place, but the entire process was eye opening in so much as the level of work that goes on in the back ground to deliver these products to us.
